About Me.

I found my passion for writing early in my life, but the process I would love most about writing wouldn't be discovered until I went to college: editing. People always ask me why I want to bother with proofreading writing. My consistent response is that language matters, now more than ever. The way we think and communicate reflects the way we act and how we live our lives.

I've always known that once I've written a story, it's no longer my story—it's the story of the person who read it, their ideas, experiences, perspectives, and emotions. In our fast-paced and technical world, stories remind us we're human. I hope you resonate with my writing in such a way that it inspires you to think about how you want to tell your story.

Education

2020-2024

Professional Writing, BA

Miami University

This degree taught me everything I know about copy writing and copy editing. Endless classes and texts reviewing proper procedures for working on copy and understanding the necessity of checking for grammar, punctuation, and spacing errors. Making mistakes is a part of the writing process. It's when we ignore those mistakes that things start to get messy.

2020-2024

Creative Writing, BA

Miami University

The reason I decided on Miami was because of its creative writing program and opportunities to get involved with the literary community. I joined a literary magazine, Happy Captive, during my freshman year and now have the title of Editor in Chief. The creative works I've written at Miami have made me a stronger writer and given me a keen eye for how to spot talented new storytellers.
